Scene One - The Wilkins Estate; Reese & Madeline's Home

"Thank you guys for coming over," Andy says to Savannah and Trenyce as they enter the living room of the mansion.

Trenyce looks at her friend and can see that Andy is looking like he hasn't had much sleep lately. He is a little pale and has dark circles under his eyes, from lack of sleep and from crying. She hates that Reese's cancer is taking its toll on Andy; it breaks her heart. She rushed over with Savannah as soon as Andy called her.

"It sounded urgent on the telephone," Savannah finally says back to him, breaking the moment of silence between the three of them. "Are you sure that the time is coming?"

Andy nods back to her. "He had a rough night," he informs them, thinking about Reese's previous evening. "He kept telling me he was holding on so he can say goodbye to everyone. He wanted one more chance to see everyone. But he's weak. He keeps saying his time is coming."

Trenyce covers her mouth in shock. "This doesn't seem real," she says, looking up at Andy, who is fighting tears in his eyes. "How are you holding up?"

Andy shrugs his shoulders. "I'm numb," he admits to her. "I'm just trying to make these last few moments special for him. Kim is in the other room too, she hasn't wanted to leave my side today."

Trenyce comes up and hugs her friend. "If I can do anything Andy, I'm here for you."

Madeline enters the living room, having been upstairs with her brother. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt."

"Its fine," Savannah tells her, trying to put some tension to rest. While the two women have a heated history, this not the time nor place to bring that up. "Do you mind if I go up and see him?"

"Not at all," Madeline replies to her, with a small smile. "I think he'd like that."

Savannah opens the door to Reese's bedroom and moves inside. She looks at the young man in his bed. His eyes are shut and he looks very pale. He's not wearing his toque so his bald head is exposed. She can't believe that Reese is near the end of his life; she thinks back to how he was the first person that really befriended her when she came to Twin Peaks. She smiles thinking back to some of their happier times as they got to know each other.

She moves closer to the bed, causing him to open his eyes a little. "Savannah," he says in a whispered voice, seeing his friend. "I'm so glad you came."

"I wouldn't be anywhere else," she tells him as she sits on the chair next to his bed. "You know, you were my first friend in this town."

"And now you look at you," he says to her, keeping his eyes closed for the most part. "You have your son, you have an amazing job, you are really making a life for yourself."

"I couldn't have had this life without you," she tells him. "I owe you a lot."

He takes a deep breath before he starts to cough a little. "I don't have much time left Savannah," he admits to her opening his eyes and looking at her. "But I want you to do something for me."

"Anything Reese," she replies to him, trying to be strong in front of her friend.

"Look out for Andy," he tells her. "He will need a lot of support after I go."

"Of course I will," she replies to him. "But you don't have to worry about leaving us."

"I'm dying, I know that. I'm not scared. And I don't want you to be either. I want you to chase your dreams and follow your heart, always," he continues to tell her. "When you see something you want, go for it."

"Oh Reese," she tells him as she leans in and gives him a hug. "You are the best friend a girl could ever ask for."

A few moments later, Trenyce enters the bedroom and moves towards the bed. Reese opens his eyes a little and grins when he sees his friend, whom he has known since high school.

"You must feel like the most popular person in the world today," she tells him as she sits in the chair next to him.

"Suppose that's what happens when one is on his death bed," Reese replies to her, trying to have a sense of humour about this situation.

"I'm still holding out hope for a miracle," Trenyce says to him, grabbing his hand. "I don't know how any of us will cope if you actually leave us."

Reese looks at his friend and realizes how much they have been through together, going all the way back to high school. "We've been through a lot together, haven't we Trenyce?"

"More than most friends go through together," she says as a tear falls from her eye. "I wasn't always the nicest person to you and for that I'm so sorry because all you have ever been is wonderful."

"You don't have to say sorry to me," he says, his words coming out slower now as he struggles to breath. "I don't want you to waste time on foolishness Trenyce. You have to live your life to the fullest at all times because you never know when your time will come."

Trenyce nods her head back to him as she bites her lower lip. She looks at her friend, who is being so brave in this dire time. "You're so brave Reese. You have no idea how proud I am of you."

Reese smiles a little at her. "I love you too Trenyce. And, please, don't be sad ok?"

"Not possible," she says back to him.

"It is," he replies to her. "I'm at peace Trenyce. I want you to be as well."

Madeline moves next to her twin brother and puts a damp cloth on his head before removing it. "Can I get you anything at all?" she asks him, as he shakes his head no. She hates seeing her twin brother in this state and not being able to help him. She is trying to find the strength to be strong but she fears that she is failing and she hates that because she knows that Reese wants everyone to be strong. She finds herself letting a tear out of her eye and she can't help it.

"You're crying," he says as he opens his eye to look at his sister.

"Sorry," she replies as she wipes her eye. "I just … I really hate seeing you like this."

He takes a deep breath. "You know Madeline," he begins to tell her. "Last night, I was sleeping or trying too and I saw Mom and Dad. They came to me."

Madeline looks up at her brother as she recalls visiting Olivia and Preston's gravesite the previous day and asking her parents for guidance in the difficult time. She thinks, for a moment, that maybe they heard her and came to Reese for that reason.

"They told me that it would be okay to let go," he reveals to her. "I'm tired of fighting this. I'm tired of being strong. So , I understand if you want to cry. It is natural."

She shakes her head no as she leans in and hugs her brother. "How am I going to move on with you? How am I going to live a day without my best friend?"

"I will always be with you Madeline," he tells her. "We are not only brother and sister, we are twins. We have always been able to know what the other is thinking without trying. We have a connection that will never be broken. Not even death will be able to stop of us from being together."

She looks at him and touches his face. "I love you so much Reese," she tells him as another tear falls from her eye. "I wouldn't have changed anything about our life together, you know."

"I know," he whispers back to her. He starts to cough a little more. "I don't have much time left Maddie," he says to her.

"I'm not ready to say goodbye," she whispers to him.

"It's not goodbye, it's see you later."

"He keeps saying he doesn't have much time left," Madeline tells Andy, as they stand outside of Reese's bedroom door and she wipes her eyes. "I think this is it."

Andy looks at his sister in law and pulls her into a hug. "He's asking to see you," she tells him as they hold each other. "Go be with your husband."

"Are you sure?" he asks her as she nods back to him.

Andy looks back at her and still feels the numbness he was telling Trenyce and Savannah about earlier. His eyes are dry and he doesn't know what to think or feel in this moment. He nods back to her and then opens the door to the bedroom. He moves inside slowly and shuts the door behind him.

He walks over to the bed and sees Reese with his eyes closed. Reese opens his eyes and gets a smile on his face. The sight is beautiful to Andy; the sight of his husband smiling at him. He looks at Reese for a long time, hoping to capture the sight in his mind forever.

"My husband," Reese finally says to him. "Come sit with me?"

Andy moves to the chair next to the bed and looks at Reese. "You are beautiful," he finally says to Reese.

"You're too kind to me," Reese says back to him as his breaths come a little bit longer. "I want you know to how that everything you've done for me has been incredible. You've made these last few days so special."

"I would do it all again for you," Andy tells him. "I don't want to lose you Reese. Please, please, keep fighting."

Reese looks back at him. "I can't Andy, it's time. It's my time."

"We have so much living to do," Andy starts to plead with him, hoping that a miracle will happen.

"Promise me that you'll be happy. Promise me that you will still live your life to the very fullest. That's what I want for you. That's what I want you to do."

"I want it to be with you," Andy replies to him, tears finally coming into his eyes.

"You're the best thing that could have happened to me in this life," Reese continues to tell him. "Thank you for always being there for me. And thank you for loving me."

Andy puts his head down as he starts to fight some of the tears building in his eyes. "I love you too Reese. So very much," he says back to him.

"Can you do one final thing for me?" Reese asks him.

"Of course."

"Hold me one last time," Reese replies to him as Andy stands up and slides on to the bed. He wraps his arms around Reese and cradles Reese into his body.

"I will always do anything for you Reese," Andy whispers back to his husband as he holds Reese. "I love you."

Andy rocks Reese gently in his arms as he feels Reese take his last breath. Andy freezes, shocked by what has happened. He lays there for a moment and shuts his eyes.

"No," he says as he closes his eyes and pulls Reese's body in closer to his. "I wasn't ready…", he says as he realizes that Reese is really gone.

"I love you," he whispers as he holds Reese's lifeless body.
