Scene One - MW Investigations

Madeline sits at her desk and quickly looks at the clock. She knows that she has an appointment coming in fairly shortly but she also knows that she is scheduled to meet Cory at the Pampa Grill for lunch today. She recalls the last time she saw Cory; they were seemingly getting close again until he was served with divorce papers. She believes that this would be a good thing for her because she and Cory could move forward with their relationship, but the look on Cory’s face tells her that she still has a lot of work to do before it gets to that level. He was absolutely devastated by the divorce papers. She shuts her eyes and wonders if she should just give up on Cory altogether. She wants everything with them to work out, but the look on his face when he actually did receive divorce papers tells her that he is clearly not over Robin yet, and maybe he will never be.

She looks up when she hears a knock on her door causing her to come back to present time and out of her thoughts. She sees Eva standing at her door. “Come in,” Madeline tells her as she stands up to shake Eva’s hand. “It’s nice to meet you Ms. McCloud.”

“Call me Eva, please,” Eva smiles back to the younger woman as they both sit down.

“Alright, Eva, what is it that I can do for you?” Madeline asks as she didn’t know what their meeting was going to be about.

Eva takes a moment and wonders if she’s doing the right thing. Will had suggested to her that she come to Madeline for help after she got a eerie note that she suspects is from her ex-husband from Europe. She doesn’t know if she actually wants someone to look into the fact that he is in town and stalking her. She looks at Madeline, who looks so sweet and innocent. She doesn’t want to bring someone else into this mess.

“I’m sorry,” she begins to say, thinking it was a mistake. “I shouldn’t have come here. This was a mistake.”

Madeline can see that Eva is scared and ushers her to stay. “Please tell me what’s going on. If it’s something I can help with, I will Eva. There maybe nothing I can do. Please let me know what’s going on.”

Eva takes a deep breath and gives her half a smile. “Okay,” she says slowly. “Years ago I was married to man that was physically abusive,” she recalls as she closes her eyes. “I hadn’t thought about it for years, but the other day I received a note.”

“A note?” Madeline arches her eyebrow. “What kind of note.”

Eva opens her purse and pulls out an envelope. “Open this, it’s the letter.”

Madeline takes the envelope and removes the letter. She slowly unfolds the paper and sees the magazine cut out letters making the sentence “I know where you are”.

“So you think that this letter is from your husband?” Madeline asks Eva, as she still examines the letter.

Eva looks up with fear-filled eyes, “I…I don’t know. It’s been years Madeline. I mean, I’ve been in Twin Peaks for a few years now. I don’t know how or why he would want to track me down now. I lived in Europe for a years without any contact with him.”

Madeline nods her head, “I can look into this for you Eva if you’d like. I would also recommend that you go to the police if you get anymore letters like this. You don’t want to fool around with a potential stalker.”

Eva nods her head, “Okay. Thank you for looking into this for me. Let me know if you need anything else from me, okay?”

Madeline nods, “And you take care. Try not to let this take over you life.”

Scene Two - The Tower’s; Floor Eight; Victoria’s Condo

“Do you have to go to work today?” Victoria asks Donovan, as he is getting ready for a day at the office. Victoria doesn’t want to spend the day alone after she received a note that she suspects is from her father; the thought scares her to her very core. She hasn’t had to think about it for so long, it just seems like all of a sudden her past is coming back and she hates it but more over she’s terrified.

Donovan turns from the large mirror in the living room where he was putting his tie on and looks at his sister. “If I could play hooky, I would, but the photo shoot at Robertson Enterprises is today. You know how hard I’ve been working on this Marbella.”

Victoria comes up to him and helps him with his tie, “Victoria,” she corrects him, “And I know. I guess I just didn’t want to be alone.”

“Are you still thinking about the letter?”

“How can I not?” Victoria replies to him. “Our father has found me. After all these years of running and thinking that I am safe, he has come back and to find me. What am I going to do Donovan?”

Donovan hugs his sister, “Listen to me,” he whispers into her ear. “We don’t know for sure that it’s Dad. Why would he suddenly show up in the US, much less Twin Peaks? We have to stay positive. Maybe it’s something else.”

Victoria exit’s the embrace and tries to take comfort from what he is saying. “You’re right. Maybe it is something else. I don’t know.”

Before he can say anything else, the door bell rings. She walks over to the door and sees a delivery man. “Package for Dr. Franky,” he says as she accepts the envelope.

“Thank you,” she smiles as she gives him some cash. She shuts the door and looks at Donovan, “There’s no return address on the envelope.”

“Open it,” he tells her quickly wanting to see what’s inside.

Victoria tears open the envelope and sees another letter inside. She unfolds the white piece of paper; the writing is in a green crayon and the note says “Daddy’s little girl”

Victoria drops the white paper and covers her mouth with her hand as tears form in her eyes. “My God, Donovan!” she cries rushing away from the letter, realizing that her father has in fact found her.

Donovan walks over to the note and quickly reads it. He looks at Victoria, who is still terrified. “That’s it Marbella. We have to go to the police. We have to make sure that you’re safe.”

Victoria looks at him and wipes some tears from her eyes, realizing that she does have to go to the police. “I just hope it’s not too late.”

Scene Three - Robertson Enterprises; The Studio

Reese opens the door to the dressing room with a huge grin on his face and he quickly turns around to face Dean, whom has been following him. They just finished the first photo shoot for the Blooming Rose launch which is official in the next month. Reese was nervous at first, as it was his first time behind the camera, but he soon found that he was very natural as a male model. Having someone experienced like Dean taking the pictures certainly helped ease his mind.

“You were great out there,” Dean smiles to his model as Reese takes a drink of some water.

“Thanks,” he grins back, still feeling the adrenalin. “I was just taking direction from you. I hope the photos turn out okay.”

“They will,” Dean says with confidence “I’ve done this for sometime, I can tell when a shoot has gone well. You were hot out there.”

Reese blushes a little at the compliment from Dean. He looks over and notices Dean still looking at him and suddenly Reese wonders if Dean is flirting with him. “Just remember what I said to you the other day Reese, once this gig is over, you have a lot of potential in this industry. It’s not every day someone as good looking as you comes around.”

“Well thanks Dean, I’ll keep that in mind for sure,” Reese replies to him, curious as to Dean’s further connections.

They are interrupted by Dominick, who enters the dressing room. “Well gentlemen, that was some photo shoot!” he says with a grin on his face, pleased with how the day has gone. “I can’t wait to see the proofs. I need this to be a success!”

“Oh, I think it will be Mr. Robertson. And we shouldn’t have to wait too long for the first photos to come back.”

Just then, a young female comes in and hands Dean some pictures that were quickly developed. He looks at them and then passes them over to Dominick, who shuffles through the pictures. “Wow, these are amazing,” he says looking up at the two men.

“You really think so?” Reese asks excited that his first shoot was such a huge success.

“I think I’ve found a great team in you too. And I can’t wait to see the other pictures,” Dominick informs them. “I’ll set up a meeting with both of you soon so we can look them over and make some decisions. Good work boys,” he finishes before he turns and walks away. He knows that these pictures are good; just as a good as the new scent Robin is working on for the Blooming Rose. He knows that he will be taking over the cosmetics world with this launch, and once he does, he will dedicate it all to Sofia; that continues to be his main goal.

Scene Four - The Pampa Grill

Cory sits at his table and waits for Madeline to arrive. His mind is racing about what has happened the last few days; from being with Madeline when he was served divorce papers to having a confrontation with Robin about the papers only to end up having sex with his wife. He shakes his head wondering where he and Robin will go from here; he knows for sure that he has to give his marriage another chance and that means ending his relationship, or whatever one wants to call it, with Madeline. He dreads telling her the news because the last time they were together she did profess her love for him. The last thing he wants to do is hurt her, but he knows that he has to follow his heart, or he will just end up causing more damage in the long run. He just hopes that she understands and that she takes it alright.

“Hey, sorry I hope I haven’t kept you,” Madeline says to him as she arrives at the table. “I had a client and it ran a little late.”

Cory looks at the beautiful woman sitting across from him and tries to keep his composure. “It’s fine. I’m glad you could make it for lunch on short notice.”

“Oh, totally. I was excited to get your invite. I know the last time we saw each other, you weren’t in the best frame of mind because of the divorce papers.”

Cory gulps knowing that this is the perfect lead in to him ending his relationship with her. “About that, we should talk,” he begins to say before something catches the corner of his eye. He turns his head and sees Robin and Liam enter the restaurant arm in arm. His eyes open wider as Liam kisses Robin on the cheek before getting shown their table. He can’t believe that Robin would tell him she was second guessing the divorce, only to turn around go out for lunch with Liam. Not just lunch, but be with him. It’s so obvious that the two have become lovers from the way Liam was just all over her, Cory realizes as he wonders what kind of game Robin is playing.

“Uh, Cory?” Madeline asks him, finally bringing back into their conversation. “You were saying?”

Cory looks back at Madeline and smiles. He reaches over and grabs her hand, “I’m sorry. The last time we saw each other you told me you loved me and I was thrown for a loop by it. Then the divorce papers came and …”

“You really don’t have to explain yourself Cory. I understand that ending your marriage isn’t easy. I never thought it would be.”

Cory smiles at her, “You’re sweet. What I was trying to say is that I would like to continue our relationship. Let’s see where this goes.”

Madeline leans over and kisses Cory on the lips, “You’ve made me so happy.”

Cory looks back at her and smiles, “Good,” he replies knowing that if Robin is going to be moving on with Liam, then he will be moving on with Madeline. He can play the game, just as much as Robin can.

***

“Liam, you have to stop flirting with me like this,” Robin says as they sit across from each other at their table.

Liam looks at her, “I can’t help it. You’re just so beautiful. Plus, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since you spent the afternoon in my bedroom. We should do that again, soon.”

Robin feels her face turn red. She has always enjoyed her time with Liam, but after visiting Cory the other day and making love to him, she knows that her marriage can work and it will work. She knows that they still have a lot of troubles to get over, but the fact that they were able to reconnect on such a personal level shows that something is still alive between the two of them. She looks over at Liam, who is still giving her puppy dog eyes and hates that she brought him for lunch so she could end their fling. She would never call it a relationship, so to speak, but it has been fun while it lasted.

“About that,” she begins to say to him.

“What? You want to skip lunch and head back to my place?” he winks over at her.

“No,” she tells him back quickly. “It’s about Cory and I. We’ve … reconnected, if you will. I’m so sorry Liam, but we can’t see each other anymore. I want my marriage to work.”

The grin from Liam’s face quickly vanishes as he leans back in his chair. He sighs heavily and rubs his hand over his face. “Well, I’m not surprised. You always said you wanted your marriage to work. I guess I should be lucky I had you once,” he says aloud, not realizing how rude he sounds. “I hope Cory treats you the way you deserve to be treated Robin. If he doesn’t,” he smirks, “You know where to find me.”

Before Robin can reply, Liam stands up and walks away from the table. Robin watches him go and hopes that she will hear from Cory soon. She wants to get on with making her marriage work. Nothing can stop her from reconnecting with her husband now, she smiles to herself.

Scene Five - Roboto; The Lab

Bob enters the lab and looks around. He still can’t believe that Robin isn’t working for him anymore. There had been more times than he can remember when he would walk into the lab and see her hard at work coming up with the latest perfumes, colognes and skin creams for the company. It’s so different for him now not being able to explore that with her.

As he walks around, he realizes that someone is in the lab working though. It must be the new chemist that Leah hired in Boston, he concludes. And he knows that it couldn’t have happened at a better time because he needs a new perfume to come quickly so he can still capitalize on the Christmas market in this year. Plus, he wants something to make Dominick nervous before his main launch in August. He would love to go to Dominick’s fashion show and announce the new Roboto line and try to upstage Robertson Enterprises, which Bob is sure will flop.

“Oh hello,” a woman’s voice calls coming out of the storage closet.

Bob turns and sees a tall, woman with long red hair. “Hello,” he replies to her as he extends his hand out. “I’m Bob Calimo.”

“Ah,” she smiles back to him as they shake hands. “The Bob Calimo. I must admit, you’re much more handsome in person.”

Bob smiles back at her, “Nice of you to say so…Ms?”

“Oh, excuse me,” she quickly replies to him. “Lane. Veronica Lane. You’re daughter in law, Leah, hired me in Boston.”

“Yes, yes, your name just escaped me,” Bob tells her, still studying her.. “Thank you for coming back to Twin Peaks so quickly. You know, we are on a very tight schedule here.”

“Yes, Leah informed me. I have already actually started to work on something,” Veronica announces to Bob, who is surprised. “Did you want to smell it?”

“I’d love too.”

They walk over to a glass container with green liquid in it. Veronica gives it a quick stir before she places a long glass stir stick inside. She removes the stir stick and passes it to Bob, who smells it. “Now remember, this is very early stages. I have a lot of work to do with it. But this would be the main note.”

Bob looks back at her with excitement in his eyes, “This is fantastic Ms. Lane! I can’t wait to smell the final product.”

The scene is exactly what he has been looking for. Something new, exciting and fresh. Something that is sure to rival Dominick’s launch at Robertson. Bob refuses to let Dominick win, it’s just not possible to him. He will stop at nothing to ensure Roboto comes out on top, and this is a great start.

Scene Six - Roboto; The Cafeteria

Leah pours herself some coffee from the cafeteria, which she normally doesn’t do because she prefers the coffee from the Sugarbowl, but she was running late this morning because she and Robbie had a rather late evening the previous night. She closes her eyes and remembers making love to her husband as part of her welcome home from Boston. She had missed her husband and loves him dearly but her mind can’t stop thinking about Jeff and seeing him in Boston. She knows that before he left town, she had made it clear to him that she and Robbie were solid as a couple and their marriage was going to work. She still feels that, but she can’t deny that it was nice to see her ex-husband again, even if only for a day.

She turns around and drops her coffee when she sees Jeff stroll into the cafeteria. “What are you doing here?” she asks as she quickly rushes to get some paper towel.

Jeff offers to help her and their hands touch as they wipe up the coffee, causing both of them to stop and look at each other. “After Boston, I didn’t think I’d see you again so quickly,” she tells him as she wipes up the mess.

“I know,” he says with a little laugh. “The oddest thing happened though,” he continues as she arches her eyebrow. “Bob called me and offered me a job.”

“He did what?” Leah asks shocked, knowing that Bob and Jeff never always got along because Bob was worried about Jeff’s role in his son’s marriage to Leah.

“I know, I was as surprised as you are,” Jeff informs his ex-wife. “But he filled me in on the upcoming new scent and he wanted me to upgrade the Roboto website, which hasn’t been done in years.”

“He never mentioned a word of this to me,” Leah aloud to herself.

“It happened so quickly Leah, I’m sure he was planning on mentioning it,” Jeff tells her. “I really just got to town today, but he wanted me to come in so I’m here.”

“I see,” Leah says back to him. “Well, it’s nice to see you, again.”

“Yea, you too! Now that I’m in town, I’ll have to come over and see you, Robbie and Paige!”

Leah freezes and gulps. She didn’t tell Robbie that she saw Jeff in Boston, which is sure to come out now if Jeff wants to visit. And she doesn’t know if she’s okay with Jeff being around Paige. What if he thinks he sees himself when he’s around their daughter? She looks at him, “Yea, I’ll run it by Robbie and see if a date works best.”

“Okay,” Jeff smiles, oblivious to Leah’s hesitation. “Anyways, I need to get to my office. I’m meeting with Bob. I’m sure I’ll be seeing a lot more of you.”

“Yea, I’m sure too,” Leah says as she waves by to Jeff. As he leaves, she closes her eyes as she feels some sweat start to form on her forehead. She realizes that with Jeff back in town, keeping the secret that Paige is really Jeff’s daughter and not Robbie’s may be harder. She hates having to lie to him and Robbie, but she knows it’s what she has to do to protect her family. She takes a deep breath and wonders how she will be able to keep the secret safe.
