Scene One - Twin Peaks Police Department; Robbie’s Office

Robbie opens a file folder as he sits at his desk and looks at the of the paper work in front of him. His mind is racing about the events that took place the day before at the Cunningham house where Adam saved Dawn from a crazed Mallory, who fell to her death from the tree house. He is looking at the kidnapping file now and is expecting Mallory’s parents anytime to meet with him. He recognizes that they will want some kind of justice for Mallory’s death, but having been there he knows that her falling was an accident and there’s nothing that they can really do about it, not legally anyways. He looks up when he hears a knock on the door outside of his office door.

“Come in,” he says bracing himself for the Cunningham’s and the difficult conversation he is about to endure.

A couple in their late 30’s enter and look absolutely shattered by their daughter’s passing. Dale, Mallory’s father, is a larger man who looks like he hasn’t slept much. And May, Mallory’s mother, has red eyes from all the tears she has been shedding since her daughter was taken from her. They slowly walk in, holding hands, and sit across from Robbie in his office, hoping to get some closure.

“Thank you for agreeing to meet with me,” Robbie tells them as he passes them some more tissue. “Please accept my deepest sympathies.”

May gives him half a smile, “Thank you Detective,” she replies biting her lower lip. “We would like to know what happened, exactly, to our daughter yesterday.”

Robbie nods his head, “That’s understandable. I will tell you everything, but I do have some questions for you as well.”

“That’s fine, we’ll tell you anything you need to know,” Dale tells Robbie, as he grabs May’s hand again. “We want to understand what happened to our little girl.”

“I got a call from Adam Black, who was one of Mallory’s teachers,” Robbie begins to explain to the parents. “His daughter had been kidnapped from his home. When I went over to their house, Mallory called Adam and asked him to come meet her. Adam almost immediately suspected that Mallory had kidnapped the child.”

“Why would she do that? Mallory never wanted to hurt other children before,” May asks, desperately trying to understand what happened. This was all so out of character for Mallory.

“It seems that Mallory had developed a crush on Adam and really wanted to get his attention,” Robbie continues to tell them what happened. “We went to your house and Adam called Mallory, and she was in the tree house in the back yard.”

“She loved that thing,” Dale chimes in, almost in a haze has he recalls past times with his daughter. “I built it for her when she was 5. She always wished she could still go hang out there, even as she grew up and got too big to always go up there. But she never let me take it down.”

“Adam went up the tree and sure enough, she did have Dawn there with her. She pleaded with Adam to give her a chance, and she ended up falling. Her death was an accident. We are so sorry for your loss,” Robbie reveals as he puts his head down.

May looks at Dale as tears stream from her eyes, “She was off her medication, wasn’t she?”

Robbie arches his eyebrow, hearing something for the first time. “What medication?”

Dale looks back at Robbie and sighs, “Mallory was on anti-depressants. She had been for years. She never really had a good self-esteem, despite being such a beautiful girl. We ended up taking her to therapy and they put her on the pills. We tried to hard to turn her around.”

Robbie sighs and reaches over to them with his hand, “Like I said, we are all so sorry about this. If there’s anything, anything at all that the TPPD can do to help you guys cope, let us know. I wanted you guys to know what happened yesterday from me and to let you know that I am closing the file.”

May looks back, “There’s nothing we can? Nothing at all?”

“Sshh, May, like he said, it was no one’s fault. This was all a terrible tragedy. We have to try to let Mallory rest in …” he says as he starts to choke up. “Peace.”

Robbie watches her grieve and suddenly realizes that he can’t wait for Leah to get home from Boston so he can see her and Paige and gave them the biggest hug in the world. Life is so short, he wants to love his family while he can. No one or nothing will come between him and his family.

Scene Two - Twin Peaks General Hospital; Victoria’s Office

Victoria walks over to her water jug and pours herself a tall glass of water. She just started her shift so she is trying to brace herself for the day, however her is still on her conversation with Donovan from the day before. She opened up to her brother and admitted that she was sexually abusive by their father which is why she ran away and changed her name. What’s really bothering her now, however, is that her brother never suffered any kind of abuse at all. Not that she wanted him to go through what she did, but she wonders why her father would attack her repeatedly and not her brother. Why her? What did I do that he would abuse me? She asks herself. She shakes her head as she tries to put that aside so she can go on with the rest of her day.

She walks over to her desk and sits down looking at her schedule on the computer. She realizes that she has almost an entirely booked day, except for a slot later in the afternoon that is open. She gets up and walks over to her filing cabinet to grab her first patient’s file when she hears a knock on her office door.

She turns and sees Vinny enter her office. “Vinny,” she says having not expected to see him as the last time they saw each other she handed him divorce papers and dumped Chris at the same time. “This is a surprise. How are you?”

Vinny slowly walks up to her and looks at her, still knowing that he has feelings for his soon to be ex-wife. He has missed her. It’s the longest he has gone without seeing her since they were married. He can’t help but notice how beautiful she looks as he approaches her desk. “I’m alright Vic, how are you?”

“I’m okay,” she replies to him, having missed his companionship as well. “I’ve been meaning to call you and talk, but…”

“I know, you’re busy. I’ve been okay, really,” he tells her, not wanting to make her feel bad for her decision to end their marriage in divorce. “I’ve been kinda busy too. Just trying to put my life together and figure out what I really want. It’s been such a whirlwind last year, you know?”

“I do,” she smiles at him knowing that it has been trying. “You’ve had to adjust to not being held hostage and having freedom. This past year has been a learning curve for you in so many ways.”

“I don’t regret marrying you in Vegas Victoria,” he quickly tells her as their eyes lock into each other. “I’m just sorry that it didn’t work out for us.”

Victoria feels her eyes swell with some water, “You understand why it’s not working, right?”

“Of course. That’s part of the reason I’m here,” he tells her as he hands her an envelope, not wanting to create drama.

“What’s this?” she asks as she takes the envelope and opens it. She looks at the papers and then looks back at Vinny. “The divorce papers.”

“Signed and already submitted. It should be finalized next week sometime,” he tells her as he feels melancholy. “I guess that means it’s really over for us.”

Victoria walks around from her office and hugs Vinny. “Thank you for signing the papers, I hope that we can still be friends.”

He smiles and whispers back into her ear, “I’d like that a lot Victoria.”

Scene Three - Twin Peaks General Hospital, The Nurses Station

Will sits in the nurses station and quickly writes some notes in a file. He’s on the mid-day shift, which is usually the busiest shift at the nurses station. He doesn’t mind though, it helps his day go quicker if he’s busy, plus since he finished his practicum, he has loved being a nurse. Out of the corner of his eye, he notices Eva walking up to the station holding some more files. Thus far, they haven’t had any conflict within their relationship since they are now dating and working together and he is trying to ensure that it stays that way.

“Hey,” he says as she arrives at the station. He wonders what her mood will be like since the previous day she got that creepy note that read “I know where you are”. He recalls that she said the was scared her past was coming back to haunt her, but he has no idea what that could mean but he knows that he will protect her at all costs. He wishes that she would open up to him more because he can’t truly help her if she won’t let him.

“Hi, these files need to be reviewed before filed,” she quickly tells him before she looks at her watch as she never stays at the nurses station for too long. “I’ll see you later?”

He watches as she is about to walk away when he stops her, “Eva, wait,” he says as she stops and turns around and looks at him. He ushers her closer with his finger. “I’ve been thinking?”

“About what?” she asks coldly, realizing that she’s running late for another meeting and not liking that he’s bossing her around at the hospital.

“The letter that you got.”

Eva sighs heavily and looks at Will, knowing that she hates discussing her personal life at work with him or anyone. “Will, I don’t want to sound rude, but I don’t like mixing my personal life with my business. Now if you’ll excuse me.”

“This is important,” he says grabbing her hand. “I think you should hire Madeline Wilkins to investigate what’s going on. If your past is really coming back to haunt you, as you said yesterday, she may be able to look into for you.”

Eva yanks her hand out of his and looks at him. “Thank you for your concern. I will think about that and maybe we can discuss later. Right now, I have to get to my meeting.”

Will watches as she leaves the nurses station and wonders if she will think about his suggestion. If someone is sending her threatening notes, something has to be done. And the sooner, the better. He just hopes that he hasn’t over stepped his boundary.

Scene Four - The Calimo Mansion; The Guest House

“How’d it go with Eva?” Shane asks Natasha as they sit at the kitchen table and eat some lunch that Natasha has made for them, curious to know if she made nice with her biological mother.

Natasha sits across from Shane and takes a drink of her tea before she replies. She recalls the previous day when she met with Eva at the coffeehouse because she was finally ready to get to know her real mother. The word mother still feels so weird for her to say about Eva because she still, truly, believes that Sofia is her mother and she always will be. But after Sofia’s death, she realizes how short life is and how little time every one really has on the planet. She decided that she should get to know her biological mother and try to have some kind of relationship with her.

“Surprisingly well,” Natasha replies to him setting her tea cup back in it’s dish. “She means well. She really just wants to get the chance to know me.”

“And you’re finally okay with that?” Shane continues to question her. He really just wants to ensure that Natasha is doing the best thing for her and that she won’t be hurt by Eva, like she has been in the past.

Natasha reaches over and grabs Shane’s hand, “Yea, I am. I guess I just have a new appreciation for life since Sofia’s death, you know? Eva and I, we may have a great relationship if I give her the chance. I won’t know unless I try.”

Shane sighs and looks over at Natasha and squeezes her hand, “Can I ask you something without you getting upset with me?”

Natasha laughs a little, “Sure?” she replies uneasily.

“You’re not trying to replace Sofia with Eva are you?” he hates asking the question, but he realizes that she’s only reached out to Eva since Sofia died and he doesn’t want Natasha to hide her grief by jumping into another mother-daughter relationship to fill a void that been left in her heart.

Natasha pauses and thinks about Shane’s question. She feels her eyes get water in them and she lets a tear escape from her eye. She wipes it and looks at Shane, “No Shane, I’m not,” she quickly replies to him. “No one will ever replace Sofia in my heart. She, no matter what happens with Eva, is my mother. I love her and will always love her.”

“Okay, I just wanted to make sure. I don’t want you to get hurt again.”

“I know, and I appreciate that,” she replies to him. “If I am honest with you, there is something that troubles me already with Eva.”

Shane arches his eyebrow, “What’s that?”

Natasha sighs, “I think she’s dating Will. I mean, he’s so much younger than she. I guess I just don’t understand.”

Shane laughs, “You don’t understand why an older woman would like a younger man?”

“He’s younger than I am!” she explains to him, trying to prove her point.

“I know, I’m just bugging you. If it’s troubling you that much, the only thing you can do is talk to her about it,” he advises her.

She smiles, “I’m so grateful to have you, you know that?”

“I do, but I like hearing it,” he smiles back over at her.

Scene Five - The Towers, The Penthouse; Cory’s Home

The elevator door opens and Madeline steps off and walks over to the front door of the penthouse. She’s about to knock when she feels her telephone vibrate with a new message. She grabs her Iphone and sees a message from Ron, an associate that she’s been working with. She recalls after she saw that Liam was working for DNYA Labs, she ordered a full background check on the doctor. Ron is now informing her that he discovered that Dominick paid Liam a large sum of money about a year and half ago. Madeline quickly re-reads the message making sure that she is reading it correctly because it seems to add to her confusion.

“Why would Dominick, Leah’s father, pay Liam a large sum of money?” she asks herself, recalling how she saw Leah and Liam at the Sugarbowl and they clearly didn’t seem to get along. Suddenly she also realizes that Dominick is Robin’s father too. “Wait, if Melissa was trying to break up Cory and Robin, is Dominick trying too? Maybe he’s paying Liam to romance Robin to keep her away from Cory?”

Before she can ask herself anymore questions, the front door to the penthouse opens and Cory peaks his head out. “Madeline?” he asks as she quickly puts her phone away. “What are you doing out here?”

Madeline smiles and swallows hard. “I was about to knock when I got an important phone message, can I come in?”

“Of course,” he says as he arches his eyebrow wondering the real reason that she was hanging out in his hallway, which seems odd. “What’s going on?”

She turns once she’s in the penthouse and looks at him. “It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you. I wanted to change that.”

Cory smiles and looks away. He knows that he still has some kind of feelings for Robin, but he also knows that they are drifting further apart and he enjoys the attention that Madeline gives him. “It has been awhile. I was going to call today.”

“Were you?” she grins, not really believing what he is saying but will take it for what it’s worth.

He comes up to her and holds her before leaning in and kissing her on the lips. “I had missed you too,” he admits to her.

She opens her eyes from the kiss and looks deep into his eyes. “I have to tell you something.”

“Okay, tell me” he replies, still looking into her eyes in return.

She pauses and wonders if she should admit her feelings to him. He nudges her and realizes that she has nothing to lose. “I’ve fallen in love with you Cory,” she quickly tells him as she looks down. “I don’t expect you to say the same thing to me, but I wanted you to know how I feel.”

“Thanks,” he smiles at her, not knowing how to reply to her. He knows that he can’t say it back to her because he doesn’t feel it. “I do care for you as well.”

Before she can reply, there’s a knock on the door. He turns and then looks at Madeline again. “Excuse me for a moment,” he says before he walks over to the door and opens it.

“Cory Calvin?” the delivery man asks Cory who nods before he accepts a package. “You’ve been served.”

Cory shuts the door and looks at Madeline, who is wondering what the package is. Cory opens the envelope and reads the documents. “My God,” he finally says, not able to take his eyes off the papers.

“What is it?”

“Divorce papers,” he replies locking his eyes with hers.

Scene Six - The Black House; Adam, Helen & Dawn’s Home

Helen finishes moving Dawn’s small bed from her bedroom into the master bedroom and smiles at herself, pleased with the outcome. She is so grateful that she has Dawn back after Mallory kidnapped her and now that she does have her daughter back, she doesn’t want to let her out of her sight again. Not even for a second; too much has happened since Helen gave birth to her. She knows that Adam probably won’t approve of this decision, but she really doesn’t care. She still can’t forget hearing Mallory in the tree house plead for Adam to give them a chance to be a couple and confess that they had almost had sex at Mallory’s house. Helen doesn’t even know how to bring it up to Adam; that he almost had an affair with his student. Where was Helen when this was happening? Where was Dawn? Was Dawn ever in the room while Adam and Mallory were flirting? Did they kiss? How close to making love did they actually come? Helen places her hands over her ears in hopes that she will be able to shut her brain off. She walks out of the master bedroom and as she’s walking down the hall, she stops when she hears a noise. She opens the door to the basement, where she thinks she heard the noise come from and looks down the stairs. She sees nothing, which doesn’t surprise her.

“Hello?” she calls out, but gets no response back. She shuts the door again and shakes her head. “I have to stop hearing things. Dawn is safe,” she tells herself as she enters the living room and sees Dawn playing with some dolls and Adam sitting on the sofa.

“Did I hear you say something?” Adam asks his wife as she comes into the living room.

“I thought I heard something in the basement, but I think it was just my imagination,” she coldly replies to him. “I think my mind is still playing tricks on me thinking that something is trying to take Dawn again. Or someone.”

Adam sighs knowing that the dig is directed towards him. “No one will ever hurt us again Helen. We got our baby back for a second time. This is meant to be.”

“I’ve moved Dawns bed into our room. I think it’s for the best, at least for now.”

Adam moves up to his wife and puts his hand on her shoulder. “Okay, if that’ll make you feel better.”

Helen turns to him, “You know what else will make me feel better?” she asks as Adam shrugs his shoulders. “Maybe if you slept in the guest room for awhile.”

Adam arches his eyebrow. “Why? We need to be together Helen. As a family. As a married couple. I miss my wife!”

“You miss me? So much that you almost had sex with Mallory?”

“What are you talking about?” a shocked Adam asks his wife as his mind wonders how she found out about his relationship with Mallory.

“I heard everything on the two way radio with Robbie while you were in the tree house,” Helen explains to him as she moves over to Dawn. “I can’t believe you would do that to us! I can’t believe you would do this to our family!”

“I can explain,” he begins to say to Helen, who picks Dawn up.

“Save it Adam, I’m not interested in hearing it. I need some time to adjust to everything that’s happened.”

He watches as Helen takes Dawn out of the living room and he hears the master bedroom door shut. He covers his face with his hands and sighs heavily. Not only does he have guilt pains over Mallory’s death, but now Helen knows of his near affair. “What have I done?” he asks himself, wondering if anything will ever get back to normal again.

Scene Seven - Twin Peaks General Hospital; Victoria’s Office

Victoria opens the door to her office after seeing a patient and sees Donovan sitting on the sofa. She smiles and walks up to the sofa, “Hey, what brings you by?”

Donovan looks up from his phone and smiles back at his sister, “I brought you your mail. I was home for lunch and the one on top looks urgent,” he tells her as she walks over to her desk.

She picks up the top envelope but her eyes quickly move to the one below it. She picks it up and arches her eyebrow. “This is weird,” she tells him as she looks over at him. “This one doesn’t have a return address.”

“It’s probably just junk mail,” he notes to her as she starts to open the letter.

“My God,” she screams as she reads the letter. “What the hell is this?”

Donovan quickly stands up and rushes over to the desk. On a white piece of paper, written in a red crayon is “I found you!”

Donovan looks at Victoria, who is visibly shaken by the note. “What do you think this is?”

She grabs her brother and hugs him. He can feel her tremble in his arms. Outside the office, Eva looks away. She couldn’t help but notice Victoria and Donovan together when Victoria opened the letter. She shakes her head, trying not to realize that she also got an eerie letter the day before thinking that it must be a coincidence . “Poor girl,” she tells herself, “I hope it works out.”

Back inside the office, Donovan looks at his sister. “You don’t think it is, do you?”

Victoria nods her head as tears fall from her eyes, “I do. I think Dad’s found me.”
