“I said, you are going to listen to me.”

“Let me go.” Meggan says, pulling her arm away from Victoria’s grasp. “I want you to go. Leave the house. You have no right being here.”

“Meggan, don’t be so dramatic. I just want to talk to you. Can we do that?”

“Make it fast Victoria.”

“I want to be at the reading of the will.”

“Excuse me?”

“I want to be at the reading of Vinny’s will” Victoria says, again.

“I don’t think so. Vinny didn’t leave anything to you.”

“Thanks. Shane says she’ll be fine in a few days”

“That’s a relief.”

“Yeah. I was worried.”

“I bet.” she says, ringing the doorbell. “Want to sit with me?”

“Sure.”

Meggan opens the door.

“Cory, Robin! I didn’t think you guys would make it back in town in time.”

They enter the house.

“Thanks for inviting us Meggan” Robin says. “I’m sorry about Vinny. If there’s anything I can do...”

Robin arrives, and overhears the conversation.

“Oh Robbie! That would be wonderful” Leah says, embracing her husband.

“Sorry to interrupt” Robin says.

“Robin! You’re home.” Leah says, hugging her sister.

“Just got in, actually.”

Leah exits from the embrace. The tension mounts.

“Well, I’ll take my seat” Robin says.

“Oh Robbie, she’s changed”

Rebecca opens the door and sees a deliveryman. “You drove around back right?” she asks.

“Yes Miss DeWitt”

“Good. No one can see there is movement in this house. Did you bring it?”

“Yes Miss DeWitt”

“I’ll unlock the back door. Bring it into the living room.”

The deliveryman does as he is told. Rebecca shuts the front door, locking it once again. She walks to the back door and opens it. The deliveryman wheels a coffin into the living room. Once the coffin is in the living room, Rebecca gives him 3 $100 dollar bills.

“For your silence”

“Hi. It’s Rebecca. I need to talk to Brett. Yes I will hold...Brett! It’s here. I have Vinny’s coffin.... What do you mean ‘Is the body there?’ Of course it is! Where else would the body be?...Fine! Talk again soon”.

Rebecca gets up. “All the hard work, and do I get anything. Not even ‘Thank you Rebecca’! The nerve! And ‘Is the body there?’ Well, duh! Does he think a dead man will get up and walk away?” Rebecca snaps at herself.

She walks over to the coffin. “I guess looking won’t hurt.” she says, as she prepares to open the coffin. She nervously starts to life the casket. She gives it a final push, and it’s wide open. Rebecca gasps in horror! The body’s gone! The coffin is empty!

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me! How dare you stay for the service, and then coming up here! This is my home. Get out! Get out now! Or I’ll have you arrested” Meggan snaps.

“Oh hush, Meggan. Word on the grapevine is that you have been suspended from the force. You are suspect in the murder of your husband.” Victoria smiles. “And I will leave, as soon as you tell me that I can go to the reading of the will. I have to be there.”

“Over my dead body”

“That can be arranged, actually” Victoria replies.

“Are you threatening me?”

“No, Meggan. I’m promising you. I will be at the reading of the will, whether you want me there or not. It would be easier to have your blessing though.”

“Fine! Do what you want Victoria, you will anyways.”

“Thank you. And yes, I do what I want. I always have...and I always will. Don’t forget that Meg”

“I heard. Don’t worry about it.”

“Will you help?”

“Yeah, I’ll see what I can do”

Robin watches as some sweat begins to develop on Cory’s muscular chest. Robin shuts her eyes, and imagines Cory kissing her! She opens her eyes.

‘Stop it Robin! Stop it! Didn’t you learn your lesson with Robbie?’ she scolds herself.

Her thoughts are interrupted by Cory. He had put on his shirt, and was doing up the buttons.

“All done” he smiles.

“Thanks Cory.”

“Anytime” he says, heading to the door.
