Scene One - The Courthouse

Lois Kam welcomes Madeline and Reese into her large office and lets them sit in the chairs in front of her desk. She moves back around and offers them water, which they both decline. “I know this is a little bit weird that I am the one that is reading your parents will, since I am the district attorney,” she tells them as she sits across from them. “But I was very close to your father in our profession. He was someone that we all looked up too.”

“Thank you,” Reese replies to her, as he likes to hear people that actually enjoyed and respected his parents. “Is this a long procedure?”

Lois shakes her head no, “The will reading is usually over within a couple of minutes unless they split everything up to a lot of people. I have a feeling, though, that Olivia and Preston probably left everything to the both of you. Are you guys ready?”

The twin siblings look at each other and grab each other’s hands. They know that this really is the final step in saying goodbye to their parents forever. They have come to realize that they will always have their parents in their hearts, but after the will is read they will try to return to living a life – without their parents.

“We’re ready,” Madeline tells her, trying to stay strong.

Lois opens a file and looks at the document. She does a quick scan and then looks back up at the siblings. “Yes, nothing is out of the ordinary. They’ve left the estate and the money to you guys. Oh wait,” she says reading another line added in near the end.

“What is it?” Reese asks, somewhat concerned that something is off with the will.

“Your mother made a late change to her will. It looks like it happened days before she died,” Lois tells them as she reads the will.

“Well, what does it say?” Madeline questions her growing just as concerned as Reese is. They shoot each other a quick look of concern.

“She’s left a large sum of money to someone else. You guys will still have more than enough for the two of you but it says she wants Will Coutts to have three million dollars.”

Madeline stands up immediately and looks away. How could her mother leave Will three million dollars? Didn’t she do enough damage by sleeping with him in the first place? She shakes her head and turns back around. “No! I want this contested! There’s no way that man is getting anything more from me! No way!”

Reese stands up and looks at his sister. “Maddie, calm down for a second, okay?”

“No Reese! Don’t tell me to calm down. That man seduced our mother while he was dating me and together they betrayed both me and Dad. He doesn’t deserve to get anything from us,” she continues to protest her case. “He’s a despicable person.”

“I know that’s how you feel and I understand completely. I really do, I just think we need to see it from Mom’s perspective. This is her last chance to do something for the people she loves. She left us so much already. This is another sign that Will and her really maybe had something real. I spoke to him the other day and …”

“Wait,” she cuts him off flabbergasted. “You saw him? When? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I knew you’d react like this,” he says holding her for a second. “He really did love Mom. He was telling me about their times together. I … I just want everyone who loved Mom and Dad to have the chance to express it to us. All we have left our memories, let’s not create more hasty situations. Okay?”

She hugs him as tears swell in her eyes. “When did you grow up so much?” she asks him realizing that he is right. She can’t hold it against her mother, especially when she is trying to forgive her mother and move on with her life. “I don’t want to be the one to tell him he gets something from Mom. I’m not ready yet.”

“That’s fair. You don’t have to be. We’ll get through this together. I promise.”

Scene Two -- City Hall, Daisy’s Office

Daisy sits in her office looking at her computer screen trying to focus on the reports in front of her. She has been so busy lately that her office really has fallen behind on a lot of work, which means she has been putting in a lot of over time hours to get caught up. However, now that she has custody of Andrew and things are seemingly calm on that front between Chris and Trenyce, she can relax and focus on her work. However, her mind is on her ex-husband and her niece. Today is Trenyce’s first day at school. She’s taking some summer courses because she missed the January entry having been preoccupied with the custody hearing. She’s just so proud of her niece for how far she has come. She’s the one that agreed to have Daisy take custody of Andrew because she knew that it was what was best for Andrew. And now going back to school to ensure she can have a career and support her son, proves to Daisy that Trenyce is growing up and taking responsibility.

Chris, on the other hand, is some what of a mess still. Daisy can’t believe that he is still sleeping with Victoria, despite the fact that she married Vinny. She doesn’t care about the circumstances surrounding the marriage, the fact is Vinny and Victoria took the oath. To Daisy, Chris hasn’t changed one bit from the cheating ways that caused their marriage to break up years ago. Apart of her really had hoped that he had changed, especially since how closed they had become again at the end of the custody hearing. What else can she do, however, other than express her disappointment in him? Which she has done. She only hopes this situation doesn’t blow up in his face like his previous affairs did.

She shakes her head and tries to focus on her reports, however as soon as she finishes typing her first sentence she hears a knock on her door. “Come in,” she says not looking up from her computer.

“I’m glad you’re here still Daisy,” her assistance Greta tells her walking into the office holding another report folder.

“Greta, what is it? I’m still working on the last report within regards to the new office tower that was proposed at last city council.”

“This isn’t about those reports, this is about your popularity as major. It looks like you’re running low according to the last polls,” Great informs her, which gains Daisy’s attention. She reaches over to get the folder and immediately opens it. She reads the documents and sure enough, her polls are down.

“How did this happen?” Daisy asks concerned as she looks over the documents.

Greta sits across from Daisy and looks at her getting Daisy to stop reading and looking at her assistant. “What is it?”

Greta sighs, “I’m going to tell you, but remember I’m just telling you what it is. I’m not going to sugar code it for you.”

“I would never want you too,” Daisy replies to her, wanting to hear her assistant out.

“The drama from your family has really impacted you as the mayor. It’s been going on for close to a year now. The events from last year at the grand opening of Caldwell’s Mountain Ski Resort with Terrence, then the messy car accident with Trenyce and Andrew and the more recent custody battle. It’s really tarnished your image,” Greta explains to her.

Daisy stands up and walks over to the large window that overlooks the city skyline, that she loves. She looks at the city and takes a deep breath. She wants to be the best mayor the city has had. “Of course it has. Why haven’t I been more aware of this? Damnit!”

“We haven’t lost all hope yet,” Greta tells her. “But we need to act fast.”

“What do you suggest?” Daisy asks turning around and facing her.

“I think we should have another election.”

Scene Three -- Roboto; Bob’s Office

Bob sits in his office reviewing the latest sales reports on his desk. As he reads, he doesn’t hear Sofia enter the office. She studies him for a moment knowing that he hasn’t been happy with her for a few weeks now because she revealed that the reason Ryan is out of Natasha’s life is because she got Dominick’s help with removing him. Instead of viewing it as a positive that Ryan is out of his life, she knows that Bob is livid that Dominick was involved. Of course, she knows that Bob hates Dominick, but she still thought that he would be happy that Ryan is out of Natasha’s life. Now, they could focus on getting her back fully but Bob is still upset with her decision.

“Darling,” she finally speaks to him causing him to look up. “You left the house so early this morning, I didn’t see you.”

“You looked peaceful sleeping, so I didn’t want to disturb you. Plus, I had a lot to catch up on. I missed a few days at the office spending time with Leah, Robbie and Paige.”

“She really is adorable, isn’t she?” Sofia replies, thinking of how proud she is of her first grand child.

“Very much so,” Bob smiles over to her, realizing that they still do have a lot to be happy about.

“Look darling, I’m going to say it to you one more time before I’m never going to mention it again,” she starts as Bob looks up at her. “I am so sorry for not consulting you about my decision to go to Dominick to get Ryan out of Natasha’s life. I acted on impulse. I was just exhausted from us thinking of a way to rid us of him and coming up with nothing. It was not meant as any disrespect to you.”

Bob stands up and walks over to his wife and hugs her. As they part he kisses her on the lips. “I know my love,” he tells her as he looks into her eyes, as he is also tired of the fighting. “You know how I feel about that man, which is why I was so livid. I just want him to stay as far away from our family as possible.”

“I know you do. But the positive is that Ryan is gone. For good.”

“Yes he is. Now we have to work on getting Natasha back.”

“Speaking of, something very interesting happened at Leah’s party the other night. I’ve been meaning to share it with you,” Sofia says as she purses her lips.

“Oh, what happened?” Bob asks as he arches his eyebrow.

“Cassie Nova happened. I saw her speaking with Natasha and it didn’t seem like a very pleasant conversation. Natasha left in a frenzy afterwards. It’s almost like Cassie was gloating to Natasha,” Sofia reveals to Bob, remembering the conversation between Cassie and Natasha at the party.

“Did you hear what they were saying?”

“No, I couldn’t get close enough to hear anything. But Natasha didn’t look too happy.”

“I wouldn’t think anything more of it Sofia. We shouldn’t waste our energy on Cassie, she seems innocent enough. We need to focus on our family and getting Natasha back. I’m sure it was nothing. We know more about Natasha than anyone else. For all we know, she could have been desperate for another fix, which could explain the awkwardness,” Bob tells her. “I can’t even say that without shuddering. I can’t believe my baby is doing drugs.”

Sofia hugs him again. “Yes, I guess you’re right. I shouldn’t worry about it. It was probably nothing.”

Still, Sofia can’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t nothing. The conversation she saw between the two women was something, but what? She knows that she has to focus on getting Natasha back first, but then she is determined to uncover why Cassie was toying with Natasha.

Scene Four -- The Sugarbowl

Trenyce walks into the coffeehouse and looks around until she sees Reese sitting at a table. She walks over and drops her backpack to the ground, “Hey stranger,” she smiles as he stands up and hugs her.

“T! I’m so glad you could make it, how are you?” he asks as they sit down.

“I’m so good. I just finished my morning classes at school,” she says before she orders a coffee from the waitress that is walking around. “It feels so good to be doing something positive again.”

“School? At TPU?” he asks as she nods before she adds her sugar and cream to her coffee. “Wow, what are you taking? When did this come about?”

Trenyce sighs and looks at her friend and realizes that she has missed Reese. “I thought about going back last fall. But then I was in the car accident and the truth about Andrew came out. I missed the deadline this year because of the custody hearing. Oh God, I’m so sorry. You probably don’t want to hear about the drama.”

Reese laughs and looks over at her. “No, it’s fine. I mean, it happened, right? We can’t change the past. We can only go forward.”

“And that’s what I’m trying to do. You know? Getting Daisy to get custody was the right thing to do. Chris and I are actually getting along, and I’m so stoked about school!”

“What are you taking?”

“Fashion design, of course!” she giggles.

“That’s so awesome Trenyce! I’m proud of you. You’ve come a long way in a short amount of time,” he tells her, looking over at his friend.

“Thanks Reese. So much has happened since I’ve been in Twin Peaks, I’m just trying to be a better person, you know? No more lies, no more secrets, no more hidden agendas. It just creates pain and hurt for the people you love the most,” she explains to him, recalling how she hurt Daisy. “So tell me, how was LA? How are you holding up with your parents?”

Reese takes a drink of his coffee and reflects for a second. “I’m really trying to be strong for Madeline, you know? She’s really struggling more than I am just because of my Mom’s affair with Will.”

“I heard about that. I can’t believe he was sleeping with his girlfriend’s mother.”

“I don’t think it was just a sex thing, though. I mean, I really think that my mom and Will had feelings for each other,” Reese says, still finding it some what hard to believe. “He’s really struggling with her death too.”

“So if you’re the rock for Madeline and Will, who are you letting go with? You must have so many emotions locked inside. Who is being your rock Reese?” Trenyce asks him, knowing that Reese has to have some kind of release himself.

Reese gives her half a smile, “I’m doing okay Trenyce, really?”

Neither one know of them notice JC enter the coffeehouse. He spots the conversation and decides that it’s best that he doesn’t go over to them and say hello. He is still unsure of Reese, despite Andy telling him there is nothing going on between them. He still feels insecure about Andy and his “true love”. He isn’t ready to go over and be friends, not yet. He, instead, walks up to the counter and places his order, remaining unseen from Trenyce and Reese.

“Have you seen Andy since you’ve been back?” Trenyce asks Reese.

He nods, “The day of the memorial service. And then we had coffee the next day,” he reveals to her. “It was so great to see him again. It felt like … old times,” he smiles to her.

“I bet it did. You guys were so good together. So much has changed since then though, huh?” Trenyce says, unaware that JC can hear their every word.

“Yea, a lot has changed, but something’s haven’t changed.”

“Like what?”

“I still love him Trenyce. More than I could have imagined,” he reveals to her, unaware that JC just overheard his confession. JC grabs his coffee and quickly leaves, having not been seen. “I left for LA last winter thinking that it would be good for me to get away, and it was. But if anything, it made me realize that I love Andy more than anything else in the world.”

Trenyce gulps, not sure what to say because she has really gotten to enjoy JC. Still, it would be really cool for her if her two best friends were together.

“You’re not saying anything,” Reese grins a little over at her.

Trenyce laughs, “I’m not sure what to say. I mean, did Andy tell you about JC? He’s been really cool to me, I’m not sure I want to get in the middle!”

Reese takes a drink of his coffee, “That’s fair. Another sign that you’ve grown up so much. You’re avoiding drama instead of creating it.”

“Hey!” Trenyce laughs as she throws a sugar packet at him. “I’m not that bad, am I?”

Scene Five -- MW Investigations

Madeline settles into her chair in her office. After her rough morning, where she is still in disbelief that Olivia left Will three million dollars, she needs the welcome distraction of work. Especially since she can’t call Jeff for a quickie. She knows that while he is leaving town will probably help him in the long run, she still feels like it sucks knowing that she can’t get that release of sexual energy that she has as a young woman. She puts a smile on her face when she sees from her office that Adam and Helen have arrived for their meeting, even though the news she has for them is unsettling to her.

“Thanks for coming,” Madeline says as they come into her office.

Helen comes around and hugs Madeline. “How are you holding up?”

Madeline rolls her eyes quickly not wanting to cry. “Every day gets a little bit better. Let’s not get into that today, though, okay?”

“Okay,” Adam tells her as they sit across from her. As Helen sits next to him, he grabs her hand. She looks over a smiles loving how close they have become in recent weeks again. “Do you have any updates for us on Helen’s past?”

Madeline looks at them, “I do actually. This is going to be pretty hard for me too because it involves my mother and father.”

Helen arches her eyebrow, “I was actually going to tell you something today.”

“What’s that?” Madeline asks her.

“I’ve been having memories of driving the car and your mother is next to me. She’s ordering me to drive quickly. I’m not sure what it means.”

“And we are sorry we didn’t tell you earlier,” Adam intervenes, glad that Helen is finally telling the entire story to Madeline. “Helen didn’t want you to not take the case because there was a chance your mother was involved.”

“My mother was involved, alright,” she says looking at them. “What I’m about to tell you, I had no idea anyone else was involved,” Madeline continues to explain to them. “But when I first found out years ago, it is the reason I ran away from home.”

Helen and Adam look at each other with concern. “What is it? What exactly happened?” she asks her.

“My parents robbed around fifteen banks back in the late nineties. They were never caught and they stopped while they were ahead. Helen, you helped them,” Madeline reveals to them. “You were the get away driver.”

Helen puts her hand over her mouth, “What? I … I don’t believe this!”

“My God,” Adam says, falling back into his chair. “See, I always knew that something was off with Olivia. I’m sorry, Maddie, I don’t mean disrespect, but I just had this gut feeling that something was off with her friendship with Helen.”

“So I was a criminal?” Helen asks, still shocked by what Madeline has revealed to her. “Did I ever get any money out of it? How did I meet them? Why didn’t Olivia tell me anything like this?”

“I don’t know all of the answers, not yet,” Madeline tells her. “But I do know that my parents probably wouldn’t have wanted you to remember the truth. When I came back and told them that I knew the truth, they really went out of their way to ensure that I didn’t say anything to anyone.”

“So what’s our next step?” Adam wonders next.

“I can try to find out if Helen was paid or anything. I’m not sure if I can do anything more though.”

“No, I don’t need to know anything else. I mean, I don’t know if I want to know if I have stolen money some where. And if I do, I really don’t want it know,” Helen says standing up. “We’ll be in touch Maddie. Thank you so much though for finding this out for me. It really does explain a lot.”

“Sure,” Madeline says as the couple leaves the office. “You guys let me know if I can do anything else.”

Outside, Adam looks at Helen and hugs her. “At least know now, what your connection to Olivia was.”

Helen looks back at him. “I’m just…I can’t believe this,” she tells him, still feeling numb from the news.

“I know. Let’s go home and we’ll talk about what we should do next.”

“Okay,” she smiles at him locking hands with him again, grateful that he is supporting her through this on-going battle.

Scene Six -- The Calimo House; Robbie, Leah & Paige’s Home

Leah pats Paige’s back over and over again as the feeding just finished. She listens for the sound of Paige burping before she wipes her mouth. “Feeling better?” she asks her new baby as she sees her newborns eyes getting heavy. “Oh, let me change you before you have a nap!” Leah tells her laying her down.

As Leah grabs her equipment for the diaper change, she can’t help but relish the fact that she’s a mother again. After she miscarried the baby with Robbie years ago and Noah died, she really wondered if she would ever get the chance to be a mother again. Now that Paige is here, she doesn’t want to take anything for granted again. Just before she is about to take off the Paige’s diaper, she hears the door bell ring.

“Who could that be?” she asks Paige as she puts in in the crib before going to get the door. She rushes over and sees Jeff standing on the other side of the door. “Jeff, this is a surprise. Do you want to come in?”

“Sure, thanks,” he smiles as he enters her home. “Is Robbie here?”

Leah shakes her head, “No he’s at work. I’m here with Paige. I’m just about to change her diaper.”

“Wow, she’s so beautiful,” he says leaning over the crib and looking at the baby, unaware that she is his daughter. “How could she not though, she has you for a mother,” he says looking over at her.

“Jeff, come on,” Leah blushes in response. “I told you the other night…”

“I know, I know,” he says turning his attention back to Paige. “Can I hold her?”

Leah gulps, “Uh, sure if you want too.”

He leans into the crib and picks up the baby. “Hey there Paige. What a pretty name for such a pretty girl! You’re a pretty little princess,” he says bouncing her a little in his arms. Paige gets a little smile on her face. “Hey, she likes me,” he smiles looking at Leah.

“She certainly does,” Leah replies walking over and taking her from Jeff, uncomfortable that is holding her. She has worked so hard to keep her secret safe, she doesn’t want anything to ruin that. “Should we change you and put you down for your nap? Can you give me a minute Jeff? I don’t want her to start fussing.”

“Of course,” he says as he watches her leave. Within a few minutes, Leah returns alone. “Did she go down okay?”

“Yea, she’s always tired after a feeding. She’s a good baby,” Leah proudly states.

“Sounds like Noah,” he tells her, recalling his son’s infant years.

“I wouldn’t know, remember?” she quickly responds. “So what brings you by?”

Jeff looks at her. “I can’t stop thinking about us Leah. I mean, we really have something special. I know you don’t think so, but it keeps happening.”

“What keeps happening?”

“Us! How can you not see it?”

“What are you talking about Jeff?” Leah asks trying not to get sucked into him again.

“We grew so close during Noah’s death Leah. We made love at the ski resort. We kissed at the gravesite right before Paige was born. We are drawn to each other,” he tells her coming close to her and grabbing her hand. “We are meant to be together. It’s not going to stop.”

“No Jeff, we aren’t,” she says removing her hand from his. “I’ve told you before, I love Robbie. I want my marriage to work. I know that it hurts you, but it’s the truth.”

Jeff looks at her and then looks down. “I thought you were going to say that.”

“I don’t mean to hurt you. I really don’t.”

“I know. But I’ve made a decision,” he continues. “I’m leaving town. I really came here to say goodbye.”

“You’re leaving town? But why?” Leah asks shocked by his announcement.

“I love you Leah,” he says, fighting tears in his eyes. “I can’t stay in this town and seeing you with your baby and your husband all the time. It’s too painful. I need to leave town so I can really try to get over you, which seems impossible here.” He pauses to compose himself for a moment. “I guess I came here today for a final confirmation. You gave it to me,” he says with sad eyes. “But it’s okay. It’s what I needed to hear.”

Leah is stunned and hugs him. She never meant to hurt him, or make him feel like he had to leave town. “I’m sorry Jeff. I hope you find what you’re looking for.”

Jeff whispers into her ear, “I never will because you’re what I’m looking for.”

A tear falls from Leah’s eye as she looks into Jeff’s eyes one last time. “Take care of yourself, okay?”

“I will,” he smiles. He walks to the door and turns and looks at her one more time. “I love you. Never forget that.”

With that, he walks out of the house and the door closes. Leah watches the door close and then let’s another tear fall from her eye. She slowly walks over to Paige’s crib and looks at her daughter sleeping. She looks back at the door and pauses for a moment wondering if she should tell Jeff the truth. She covers her mouth with her hand and shakes her head. She knows she is doing the right thing for everyone involved. She just hopes that she doesn’t see Jeff’s face every time she looks at her precious baby.
