Twin Peaks Law Courts

Franklin Ross looks into the crowded court room as he prepares to call the next witness in the custody case of Logan. Jeff just finished his emotional testimony and now Franklin will hear from Logan's mother, Meggan. With every testimony, he realizes that his decision is becoming more and more difficult to make.

Meggan looks at Josh, her lawyer, and he nods back to her trying to reassure her that she will be okay when she is called to the stand. Meggan then looks over at Jeff and their eyes lock for a brief moment. Lukas puts his hands on his sisters shoulders offering support.

"Meggan Richardson, you're the next witness, please be sworn in," Franklin announces to everyone, as Meggan slowly walks to the witness stand. She swears to tell the truth and then sits down.

Josh stands up and looks at his client. "I'm sure today hasn't been easy for you."

Meggan nods back to him. "It has been a very long day."

"I hope you're okay to answer a couple of questions," Josh tells her. "We've heard testimony from Brad Lawson and Jeff Claus about you asking Brad to claim to be Logan's father when you discovered you were pregnant."

"That is true, I did ask Brad to cover. I didn't tell him that Jeff was the father until much later."

"Can you please explain to everyone why you lied in the first place?" Josh moves closer to her.

Meggan sighs back to him and looks at Jeff quickly. "Jeff and I had been married, like he said. Our marriage was invalid when his wife Leah, who had been presumed dead, turned out to be alive. However, the feelings Jeff and I had, they didn't just die because Leah was back. However, Leah and Jeff decided to make their marriage work. After Jeff and I had our affair, he came to me and told me it was a mistake. He told me that he had to make his marriage to Leah work," Meggan recalls as she gets tears in her eyes. "It was devastating to me."

"And you didn't think that a baby would change that for you? This could have been a way to put a family together?"

Meggan shakes her head back to him. "No, I didn't want to create anymore drama," she tells him. "Jeff, Leah and I, we had all been through so much pain and heartbreak, when Leah and Jeff decided to be a family, I didn't want anything to come between that. I just wanted to move on and try to forget my own pain. I never meant to cause more pain by lying. I just thought I was doing the right thing for everyone."

"You were protecting yourself from getting hurt again?" Josh asks her.

Meggan wipes a tear from her eye. "I was trying to protect everyone," Meggan replies to him. "Look at what has happened since the truth came out? Jeff is furious; he wants a divorce from Leah and here we are in court. I believe this all would have happened months ago if I had been honest from the start."

"No further questions."

"Ms. Kam, any questions?" Franklin asks Jeff's lawyer.

Lois stands up and looks at Meggan. "You were married to Jeff, so you saw him interact with his daughter, Paige, correct?"

"That's correct."

"Based on our own observations of encounters between Jeff and Paige, was there any indication that Jeff wouldn't have been a good father to Logan?"

"Of course not," Meggan replies to her. "As I just finished explaining, this was more of a way to save us all from more heartbreak," Meggan tells her before she looks at the Judge. "Please, your honor, you have to believe me … I am a good mother. I was doing what a mother should do: try to protect her child from heartache! Please, please, don't take my baby away from me!"

"Your honor! You can't let this continue!" Lois shouts.

"You're not a mother!" Meggan yells back at her. "I am a mother! Please don't take Logan from me! Please!"

"Order! Order in the court" Franklin smashes his mallet down repeatedly until there is an awkward silence in the court room. "One more outburst and I will hold all of you in contempt! Is that understood? Now, I think I've heard enough. Court is in recess until I've made my decision!"

The Pampa Grill

"I'm sure Paige was stunned to see you back at Robertson Enterprises," Cassie chuckles to Max as they sit in the back corner table of the restaurant together. She picks up her glass of red wine and takes a sip before she looks back over to son as he just told her that he is back working at Dominick's company and the same day, Paige also got a job there. She knows that Max and Paige have hit a rough patch so she is hoping that by working together they will be able to mend their relationship.

"She was but she also made it pretty clear that she wants nothing to do with me," Max replies to his mother before he takes a sip of his beer.

"How do you feel about that?"

"I think in time she will realize that we mean more to each other than what she wants to admit," Max tells his mother. "I won't give up on her, I think we are meant to be together."

"I think you're right," Cassie admits to him. "She's upset now but she will come around, I have faith in that."

"What about you? Are you still pinning over Jacob?"

Cassie uneasily chuckles back to him. "I can't lie and say I am completely over him," Cassie admits to her son. "But, my attention is focused on everyone else who has crossed me. I'm tired of being a doormat to the citizens of this town."

Max looks back at his mother in surprise. He hasn't heard her talk this way in a very long time. "What does that mean, Mom? What are you going to do?"

"Get my revenge," Cassie replies to him immediately before she takes another sip of her wine. "And, no one will know what hit them when I'm done with them."

At another table, Eva and Dominick sit across one another enjoying a nice dinner together. Eva is happy to finally have some time with her husband as they haven't exactly spent a lot of time together as of late.

"This is nice, a chance for us to catch up," she smiles over to her husband.

"It is," Dominick nods back to her. "And, I'm sorry that I've been so busy with Robertson lately. It feels like we have a million things in the air right now."

"I suppose that is understandable after the Gravity launch last fall," Eva replies to him. "I'm sure you're still cleaning up fires from that."

Dominick takes a sip of his scotch. "Yes, we are. Thank you for being so understanding."

"I've been married to you long enough to know that you take your company very seriously," Eva chuckles back to him. "What else is going on?"

"Well, funny you should ask," Dominick looks back to her. "I've had this eye to create an anti-aging serum for Robertson. I think it could be the next big product for the company."

Eva slowly sets her glass of wine back down and looks back at her husband as she arches her eyebrow. "What? Did I say something wrong? You don't like the idea?"

"It's not that," Eva waves her hand in the air. "When I had coffee with Natasha and Victoria the other day, Natasha had mentioned something similar at Roboto."

Dominick's eyes open wider in surprise. "A similar product? Well, that can't be a surprise … we are both cosmetics companies."

"It's just a weird coincidence that you and Roboto are planning a similar product at the same time," Eva tells him. "Especially since we all know what happened with that damn face cream a few years back," Eva reminds him of the face cream that Robertson beat Roboto at releasing, which came to head during the Ice Storm that killed Dominick's grandson, Blake.

"Trust me, darling, nothing like that will happen this time. I mark my words."

Eva nervously nods back to him. "I hope you're right. I really, really do."

"Do you want to go get a drink?" Paige looks at her father as they stand in hallway of the courthouse. She can tell that Jeff is stressed out by the events that have taken place throughout the day. It seems like almost every testimony was filled with drama and tension. Even if Jeff says no to the drink, Paige feels like she could use one.

"I don't know what I want to do." Jeff admits to her. "Today was brutal."

"I meant what I said earlier to you," Paige moves closer to him. "You should find Mom and apologize to her. What you did to her, serving her divorce papers right after her testimony was pretty low."

"I have been thinking about that," Jeff nods back to her. "And maybe you're right. Maybe I have been too hard on her. She was clearly upset by what happened on the stand."

"I think it would be a great way to start to try to mend and heal from this, don't you?"

"You're a good kid, Paige," Jeff pulls her into a hug. "Thanks for being here for me."

"I love you Daddy, I wouldn't be anywhere else."

Further down the hall, Lukas looks over at Meggan who is pacing back and forth. "You're going to burn a hole in the ground."

"I'm just worried," Meggan admits to him. "I have no idea what the Judge could be thinking."

"It's out of our control now," Lukas tells her. "You did the best you could. I thought your testimony was really good, Meg. You countered all of the claims about the lies with good reasoning. And then you pleaded with the Judge. I don't know what else you could have done."

Meggan looks down the hall and sees Jeff and Paige hugging one another. She gulps wondering if there's anything she can do to try to get this to work out for everyone involved.

The Young Mansion; Nicholas' Home

"God, I needed that," Andy lays next to Nicholas in the large king size bed in the master bedroom in the mansion that Nicholas is living in. They just finished an intense love making session, which they both clearly needed. "You were amazing, as usual."

Nicholas looks over at Andy's sweaty chest and smiles to himself. "You were pretty incredible yourself," he licks his lips and leans over to kiss Andy on the lips. "I'm glad we have my own place to do this now."

"You mean, you didn't like hotel sex?" Andy chuckles back to him as he leans up in the bed.

"I mean, I did," Nicholas replies to him. "And, I like having sex at your condo too. But, there's so much room in this house. I feel like we could have sex every day for three weeks and still not have used every room in this house."

Andy laughs back to him. "There are some rooms I don't want to have sex in," Andy tells him. "Like your Mom and Dad's room."

Nicholas crunches his face back to him. "Yea, okay, you win there."

"You seem happy here," Andy tells his lover. "And that makes me happy."

"You know?" Nicholas looks at him. "I am happy. I didn't think being in my own space would mean so much to me, but it is nice being here. And, I'm glad you're here. I know that you were apprehensive about me being here."

"I can't lie to you Nicholas," Andy says back to him. "I still don't trust your Mom. But, if you're happy then I'm happy you're here."

Nicholas leans over and kisses him passionately. "I love you so much," he tells Andy as their lips part. "I hope we are this happy forever."

"We will be," Andy smiles back to him. "Nothing will tear us apart."

Twin Peaks University

"Are you guys ready to go?" Trenyce asks Andrew and Albertinah as she moves closer to them with Chris following her. Now that the graduation ceremony is over, Trenyce and Chris want to celebrate with Andrew for getting his diploma and for Albertinah being awarded the teacher of excellence award. They have reserved a table at the Pampa Grill and have champagne waiting on ice for them. "We have champagne waiting for us at the Pampa Grill."

"That sounds wonderful," Albertinah says as she pulls Chris into a hug. "You guys are spoiling us."

"It's not every day Andrew graduates from college and you win an award," Chris tells his sister. "This is worth a celebration."

"I couldn't agree more," Andrew nods back to them. "Okay, I think we should head out. I don't think anything else is going to happen here."

"Sounds good," Trenyce says as they all turn to leave the college.

Just then, Abby and the dean, Clark Henderson, emerge from the auditorium. Andrew spots them and immediately feels beads of sweat start to form on his forehead as the last time he saw Abby he told her that he wouldn't be blackmailed into a relationship with her and she vowed that he and Albertinah would pay.

"I'm glad I caught you before you left," Clark announces to the group as he glares back at Albertinah and Andrew. "We have to talk."

"What is it Clark?" Albertinah asks him, knowing him well enough to realize something is wrong. "I thought the ceremony was lovely."

"I bet you did," Clark grits his teeth back to her. "Because you let me make a fool of myself in front of everyone!"

"I…I'm not sure I understand," Albertinah admits to him.

"You slept with Andrew Pherson!" Clark yells as people around the group stop and look on in shock and awe. "Sleeping with one of your students Albertinah? You know that we have very strict policy about this!"

"There has to be some kind of mistake," Chris interjects, stunned by what he just heard. There's no way Andrew, the man whom he thought of as a son for so long, was sleeping with his sister.

"No," Andrew admits to everyone, as they all openly gasp. "Albertinah and I, we did have a fling. But it's over now. We never hurt anyone and it doesn't change anything, at least it doesn't have too."

"That's where you're wrong," Clark replies to Andrew. "Since you both broke the rules, I'm revoking your diploma and Albertinah's award. You two will have to face the consequences of your actions."

"You can't do that! I still graduated fair and square!" Andrew yells back at him.

"With an A in your history class," Clark smirks back to him. "I wonder how you got that grade."

"There's no point in fighting him," Albertinah tells Andrew. "He's right, we have to pay for what we did."

"I can't believe this," Trenyce puts her hand over her face.

"You two can get the hell off my campus before I call security," Clark rips the diploma from Andrew's hands and then takes Albertinah's award from her. "Go!"

"We are leaving," Albertinah yells back to him before she looks at Chris, Trenyce and Andrew. They all start walking towards the door until Andrew sees Abby standing, watching everything unfold.

"This was you," he glares at her. "I hate you, Abby! Do you hear me? I hate you!"

Twin Peaks Law Courts

Meggan stands at the end of the hallway of the courthouse as she wanted to collect herself before she left for the day. Lukas has already left after she admitting to him that she would be okay to be alone for a while; she wants some time to clear her head and try to regroup before the judge makes his decision.

She looks down the hallway and sees Jeff standing alone, as Paige has also left. They lock eyes for a moment before she looks away. She bends down to collect her purse and picks it up and starts to walk towards the exit.

"Tough day, huh?" she says as she gets closer to Jeff.

"Yea, you can say that again."

"Look, Jeff," Meggan looks at him. "I've been thinking about how we could settle this without one of losing Logan."

"Do you actually think there's a way?" Jeff asks her.

Meggan grabs his hand and locks eyes with him. "Maybe this is the chance you and I have always been waiting for?" she asks him back. "When I was on the stand and I was reliving how Leah coming back ruined our marriage, it reminded me that we never had a chance to truly be together to see if this could work. Instead of hurting each other anymore, why not let love win? What do you say?"

Jeff looks back at her in total shock as, in his mind, he was just accepting everything that Paige was telling him that he should forgive Leah. He was thinking that maybe he would forgive Leah and try to save his marriage, now Meggan is asking him to get back together with her.

"You're not saying anything?" Meggan drops his hand feeling deflated.

"I…I don't know what to say," Jeff admits to her. "I guess I have to think about this?"

"Well, don't take too much time," she replies to him. "The judge will be back soon with his decision. We could prevent one of us from losing out on Logan. Wouldn't that be the best option?"

Next on One Day at a Time
